Stop Unwanted Calls, Emails and Direct Mail
Phone calls and text messages
- Register your phone numbers on the national Do Not Call list at no cost by calling 1-888-382-1222 (voice) or 1-866-290-4236 (TTY). You must call from the phone number you wish to register. Add your personal wireless phone number at donotcall.gov.
- Learn more about stopping unwanted robocalls and texts by accessing the Federal Communications Commission website.
- Use a call blocking app that will prevent unwanted calls from reaching your phone. Read reviews and compare features to find the best one available for your phone.
Emails
- Build on your email provider’s spam filter that already helps catch most junk emails by marking unwanted emails.
- Block and report emails that you suspect are fraudulent, and report it to your email provider.
- Unsubscribe from promotional emails to stop future emails.
- Don’t click on suspicious links, especially if you are not expecting an email from the sender.
Direct Mail
- Opt out of receiving pre-approved credit card offers and be removed from national direct mail lists by calling 1-888-5-OPT-OUT (1-888-567-8688) or visit the Opt Out Prescreen website.
